Remembering Aldborough Hatch Farm
inmyday.org.uk / archive /

Aldborough Hatch farm is located at the end of East London and the beginning of Essex. As the land is owned by the council, the long term future of Aldborough Hatch Farm is uncertain. Farmland so close to London makes it desirable for development, but it is this proximity to the city that makes the farm and its community so unique. This project uses photography and oral history to document the community and space.

These interviews were conducted with friends who have worked, lived near to or kept horses at the farm. The conversations took place in a variety of locations, often at the speaker’s home where you can hear the sounds of their children and even grandchildren. I would like to thank the following for their willingness to share their memories and photographs: Sarah Commander; Louise Hennessey; Scott Gray; Ron Jeffries; Yvonne Jeffries; Amanda Schlotter; Peter Schlotter; Vicky Smith; Val Smith.
